Authentic Kerala Flavors Right Here! Spice of Malabar is hands down one of the best takeout-only spots I’ve discovered for Kerala cuisine! From the moment you open the box, the aroma hits you — rich, spicy, and absolutely mouthwatering. The chicken biriyani is an absolute must-try — flavorful, perfectly spiced, and generous in portion. And if you’re craving something truly traditional, their Kappa and fish curry is next-level comfort food. The fish curry has that signature tangy-spicy balance that takes you straight to the backwaters of Kerala. Executive Chef Peeush and Head Chef Jenshu clearly pour their heart into every dish. The quality and consistency are top-notch, and you can really tell they care about preserving the authentic taste of Malabar. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Kerala food or wants to try something unique and delicious. Just make sure to order ahead on Doordash or Skip the Dishes — it’s popular for a reason!

I tried the Chicken Biryani from Spice of Malabar and it was absolutely delicious! The rice was perfectly cooked — fluffy, fragrant, and full of authentic Malabar flavors. The chicken pieces were tender and well-marinated, and the spice level was just right — rich but not overpowering. The portion size was generous, and the aroma itself could make you hungry again! If you’re craving real Kerala-style biryani, Spice of Malabar is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

I ordered fish curry and kappa. The kappa was perfectly cooked—soft, well-seasoned, and buttery, just the way it should be. The fish curry tasted really nice.It reminded me of the same taste my mom used to make back home.

I recently picked up takeout from Spice of Malabar, known for its authentic Kerala cuisine, and it was such a treat! I started with the porotta and beef ulathiyathu, which were outstanding—the porotta was flaky and soft, perfect for soaking up the rich, spicy beef that was tender and full of flavor. Also, I tried the chicken biriyani and kappa meen curry combo; the biriyani was fragrant and perfectly spiced, with juicy chicken, while the kappa blended beautifully with the meen curry for a comforting finish.

Tried Spice of Malabar for takeaway for a gathering and it honestly hit the spot. The porotta and beef combo was rich, spicy, and comforting – exactly how it should be. The kappa and fish curry had that real traditional flavor you don’t find everywhere, and the biriyani was packed with aroma and taste without being too heavy. You can feel the authenticity in every bite.

Came to know about this new Kerala take out restaurant the other day. I ordered their chicken biriyani and Fish biriyani through Doordash. To be honest the food tasted really good and is one of the best kerala biriyanis available in the lower mainland. It's affordable and the quality and quantity is amazing. Worth trying.
